Student Affairs is a job field that I didn’t know existed until I started working in OSI. The higher-education field is huge and DePaul has many divisions of Student Affairs including: Residential Education, University Ministry (UMIN), Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS), and of course, OSI.

The Month of October is Careers in Student Affairs Month (CSAM) and there are some cool events happening if you are interested in pursing a career in student affairs. On Tuesday October 16, October 23, and October 30* there is a Brown Bag Lunch Convo in the 2nd Floor Performance Area of the Lincoln Park Student Center from 11-1:30. Bring your lunch and stop by to talk to current higher ed grads and network with DPU student affairs professionals.

[*NOTE: The October 30 lunch will take place in Lincoln Park Student Center 220]

If you want MORE free food we The Alumni Center is hosting a Dinner on DePaul Wednesday, October 17 at 6 p.m. This is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to mix, mingle, and network with DePaul Alumni who are currently working in Student Affairs at a variety of institutions.  You must RSVP for this event via OrgSync, e-mailing futurealumni@depaul.edu, or calling 773-325-894.

Besides the luncheons and dinner, we also have 2 Webinars! The first is October 17 from 3-4 in Lincoln Park Student Center, Suite 201 Conference Room  is titled “Things I Wish I Knew When Applying to Grad School.” The second is October 31 from 3-4 (same location) and is about “Making the Most of Your Career.” No RSVP is required, but mark it on your calendar now so you don’t forget!

We hope to see you at one of our events! It’s a great way to meet those who work in our office as well as other offices at DePaul. Who knows, you might change your career aspirations. 🙂
