DePaul University is very well known for its sustainability initiatives and efforts throughout the years. On a national level, we have been recognized by the Princeton Review’s Guide to 311 Green Colleges 2012 Edition for our green building initiatives, conservation efforts, use of alternative energy, and environmental academic programs repeatedly. DePaul has also received bronze level recognition from the Illinois Campus Sustainability Company in May 2012 for its university sustainability efforts! (DePaul Sustainability Fun Facts).
Every year, the DePaul community comes together for Earth Week. This year’s Earth Week is a week- long filled with more than 20 activities and events, on both Loop and Lincoln Park Campuses. It’s a set of offerings intended to address two key sustainability objectives from DePaul’s Vision 2018 strategic plan: “Develop opportunities for learning focused on sustainability and showcase best practices in sustainable operations and administrative processes.” You’ll find engaging panel discussions, an informative film, how-to workshops, and a Green Food Festival, just to name a few. To view all of the Earth Week events and activity offerings, take a look at the Earth Week 2013 website.
Earth Week at DePaul wouldn’t happen without all of the individuals, campus departments, and organizations that have developed and will coordinate the Earth Week events. Take advantage of all of these planned events and activities and begin your path to sustainability by going green and participating in Earth Week 2013!
