Meet the Staff: Brent Turner

brentToday’s Staff Spotlight is with Brent Turner, who is a brand new addition to our office. Brent is the Associate Director at OSI and absolutely loves the energy from working with students on DePaul’s campus! Get to know Brent by learning about his favorite things below.

Where did you grow up?

-Just outside of Washington, DC in northern Virginia. My family hasn’t moved since!

Where did you attend undergrad?

-The College of William & Mary in Virginia. You know, the one that was founded in 1693 in Colonial Williamsburg 🙂 . Then I went to The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio for graduate school.

What were you involved with in college?

-A lot. I was that guy…W&M Choir, the Gentlemen of the College (acca-cuse me? yep, all-male a cappella), Orientation staff, Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Bone Marrow Drive steering committee

How long have you been working at DePaul?

-I joined the OSI team in August 2013.

What is your favorite thing about working in OSI?

-Student traffic in the office. It gives us great energy…after all, it’s why we come to work every day.

What is your favorite and least favorite thing about Chicago?

-I love Chicago! Particularly the access to sporting events, restaurants, museums, shows, rooftop views of the city and the lake. I’m also a big fan of not having a car.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want with you?

-Earth, wind, & fire. The elements, not the band.

You will never get sick of eating…

-Peanut butter M&Ms, reese’s pieces, mint chocolate chip ice cream, thin mints and tagalongs, and chicken fingers. Not all at once, though.

What is your favorite book?

-The Little Engine That Could. But I’m not gonna lie, I flew through all three Hunger Games…

What was your favorite vacation?

-I’ve traveled a lot…and favorite spots include Scotland, Croatia, Uganda, and Estonia.

Most people wouldn’t know that you…

-I was on The Price is Right my senior year in college. It’s on VHS cause YouTube wasn’t around yet 🙂
