This Sunday October 13, 2013, is the 36th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This marathon brings people from all over the United States as well as over 100 countries. It is Chicago’s largest unifying event. The Chicago Marathon is one of the six World Marathon Majors (Boston, New York, Tokyo, London, and Berlin) which is a huge honor. Over 30,000 people dedicate themselves to running the marathon each year and majority run behalf of charitable organizations- this marathon is more than just a marathon. In addition to the dedicated runners, the entire city comes together this one day and makes magic happen. Volunteers play a large part of this race and many individuals from the DePaul community look forward to volunteering every single year. It is a main volunteering event for a large amount of student organizations and they cannot be more excited! To get a feel on what these hard working runners have ahead of them, here is a video of the race route which is 26.2 miles all over the city and cultural neighborhoods of Chicago! We wish everyone involved with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2013 the best of luck!
