Family Weekend 2013

FamilyWeekend2013Family Weekend is right around the corner and we could not be more thrilled to share a bit about what events students and families can enjoy! This weekend, October 18th- 20th is full of activities some of which we are highlighting.

Some highlighted events are:

Friday, October 18th

-Trolley Transportation from Lincoln Park Campus to Lincoln Park Zoo

Get ready to get wild in Chicago! For Family Weekend guests and their students we are providing trolley transportation to and from the lincoln Park Zoo. This community zoo, one of the country’s last remaining free zoos, features wildlife from every continent, from penguins to gorillas to giraffes and more. Trolleys will be departing from the Lincoln Park Student Center every half hour. The last trolley back to the Lincoln Park campus will be leaving the Lincoln Park Zoo at 5 p.m.

-Family Weekend Kick-Off 

Please join New Student and Family Engagement as we kickoff Family Weekend. Faculty and staff from across the university are here to welcome parents and family members of our DePaul students. Enjoy food, raffles, our photo booth and more with our special guests. Guests of all ages are welcome to partake in the food and fun.

-Family Weekend Photo Booth

Capture your memories of Family Weekend in our photo booth. Pack the whole family into our booth, dress yourself in our hilarious props, and have some fun. Get silly and create a keepsake from the weekend.

Saturday, October 19th

-2013 President’s Diversity Brunch

The President’s Diversity Brunch welcomes students and families participating in Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) programs to DePaul and to celebrate DePaul’s commitment to diversity with a keynote speech by the President of the university. you must rSvP for this event by contacting OMSS at (773) 325-7325 and by registering for DePaul University’s Family Weekend.

-Art Institute of Chicago Excursion

DePaul families will be provided admission to the Art Institute of Chicago, CTA passes and maps for a self-guided excursion, including points of interest as they travel to the museum. Families can visit the many exhibits at The Art Institute of Chicago and take advantage of nearby popular Chicago sites such as The Bean, Millennium Park, The Art Institute of Chicago lions, Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain and more. (Great photo ops for DePaul students and their families.)

-DePaul Basketball Open House: Men’s Basketball Autographs & Photo Session | Sullivan Athletic Center Tours with Blue Demon Legends 

Join the Blue Demons inside McGrath-Phillips Arena. Meet the men’s basketball team along with DIBS, the Blue Demon mascot, beginning at 11:30 a.m. for pictures and autographs. Tour the Sullivan Athletic Center with legendary men’s basketball alumni Mark Aguirre, Dave Corzine, Kevin Edwards and Lemone Lampley.

Sunday, October 20th

-Family/Alumni Weekend Mass

Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, C.M., President of DePaul University presides at Mass to celebrate Family and Alumni Weekend. St. vincent de Paul Parish and Catholic Campus Ministry welcome all students, families and alumni to attend and participate in this festive liturgy.

-Brunch with NSFE and the President Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, C.M.

Please join the rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., President of DePaul University and other members of the DePaul community for Sunday brunch. This event has historically been the most popular of our Family Weekend celebration. Hosted by the President’s Office, Student Affairs and the Office of New Student and Family Engagement.
